SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Jennifer Kauffman, Nurse Practitioner and CEO at Vein Institute & Medi Spa, Inc. in Warsaw, was recently the clinical instructor of an Asclera sclerotherapy course in Santa Monica, Calif. Kauffman taught at the prestigious Skin By Lovely.
For the past 30 years, the medication Sotradechol® has been used to treat spider veins. Last year, a new medication called Asclera® entered the U.S. market. Many patients who had previously been injected with Sotradechol and tried Asclera for the first time reported much less bruising and discoloration after the procedure with very good results eliminating the spider veins.
Sclerotherapy is a treatment performed to eliminate large spider veins and smaller varicose leg veins. Injecting the unwanted veins with a solution causes the target vein to immediately shrink and then dissolve over a period of weeks as the body naturally absorbs the treated vein. Kauffman teaches the procedure to medical professionals across the country.
