Q: Christmas is less than a month away. Do I have time to freshen up my face before all of the parties and family gatherings? Michelle, Leesburg
A. Michelle, doesn’t it seem like every year when this time comes around again we find ourselves asking where the year went? In the midst of the holiday season, time will only continue to fly by as we rush to make our list and check it twice. The good news is in all this hustle and bustle there are some quick and easy ways to freshen up your face with little to no downtime.
The first option to brighten up your skin, Michelle, is to consider a chemical peel. Chemical peels often carry a negative reputation because of their name. They would be better off called a medical facial. There are many light chemical peels that do not cause any peeling for the patient, which is perfect if you are on a tight schedule. They simply help exfoliate off the dead skin on your face which is creating a dull appearance. Once that skin is sloughed off with a chemical peel your face will have a beautiful, youthful glow.
Michelle, if you have some stubborn brown spots lingering around from summer, you might consider a laser photo facial also known as LimeLight® treatment to help brighten up your skin for the holidays. Not only will it eliminate summer’s pigment that leaves your skin uneven, but it will also stimulate collagen to plump up your skin giving it a bright radiance.
A final quick option to help freshen up your face would be with a wrinkle relaxer such as Botox®, Dysport® or Xeomin®. These medications will soften or eliminate those lines between your eyes that make you look mad all the time or the smile lines around your eyes. It is fast procedure with no downtime and is often performed over the lunch hour. The treatment takes effect in as little as two days with your maximum results seen at two weeks.
So, to answer your question Michelle, yes, you do have time to brighten up your skin before Christmas! Be sure to talk with a medical skin care professional if you have any questions about the best option for your skin. I wish you a Merry Christmas with your family and hope you enjoy all the season has to offer.
